It feels like a sunny June rain. June like the midday of the year. June like the height of summer, the time of ripening, if the year is life, the moment when vitality reaches its peak. June is a sweltering city, with its man-made tree-like buildings, when the air melts and flows through the windows of the houses, refracting reality, turning it into a haze, a mirage.
Imagine a year as a day, a whole day that begins with waking early in the morning and ends with sinking into a deep sleep. I used to think of a year as a whole lifetime, a long and full life, beginning at birth and ending at death's door.
